WYOMING 2009-Fossils & Petroglyphs

On our way to Cody we passed through some fossil rich areas and we found a few of our own.

Bruce & Abby investigate a rock cut- nicely tipped strata

Interesting fern pattern

You can just make out the dinosaur footprint to the right of Abby's sneaker (left in the photograph)
This is at the Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite in Shell ,Wyoming
We also found tons of the Devil's Toenails or shrimp fossils (Thanks Dean for the tip!!!)

Dinosaur tracks -one by each foot- that's a LONG stride!

Prairie dog

Ben loved the bunnies everywhere

The petroglyphs at Legend Rock in Thermopolis, WY
They are estimated to be 11,000 years old (Download the pdf)

The eagle- Abby's favourite

Ben and I love this bunny

What is he pulling???

At the dinosaur dig- there is a brachiosaurus below us...

The Lamar River Valley in Yellowstone- one of the most peaceful places on earth

Bruce thought the elk cows were "horses" and was mercilessly teased for the rest
of the trip.  Every time we saw an elk- we'd yell 'Daddy's Horses'!
